Core Gateway Operations
The 3 most common daily operations carried out on the SolarTools platform, along with best practices for executing them securely, are detailed below:
Profile Deployment & Updates
To push your newly prepared Modbus register map or connector configuration to the gateway, click the "Deploy Profile" button. The device automatically pulls new settings once active on the net, seamlessly applying them without any physical intervention.
Over-the-Air Firmware Updates (OTA)
Upgrade the gateway's core software remotely for improved security patches and new protocol supports. Simply select the target release from the firmware list and execute "Update Software". The procedure completes in 2-3 minutes.
Real-Time Telemetry & Log Monitoring
To trace raw packet traffic on the RS485 serial bus or outbound MQTT messages, navigate to the "Live Logs" tab. This provides an excellent diagnostics tool for validating register mappings when commissioning new physical inverters.

Frequently Asked Questions
- How long does it take for a profile to take effect?
Depending on net bandwidth, profile retrieval and service reload typically complete within 10 to 15 seconds. - Is telemetry data lost during remote software updates?
No. SolarTools Gateways feature an internal data buffer. Telemetry is securely stored on local cache during offline states and backfilled to the cloud immediately once connection is re-established.
