What is Peak Hours?
The evening time band when electricity is most expensive and demand peaks (usually 5–10 PM).
Peak (puant) is the time band in multi-time electricity tariffs when energy demand peaks and the unit price is highest. In Turkey, the evening 5–10 PM period is usually defined as peak hours. Active energy consumed in this band is markedly more expensive than in the daytime and night bands.
For industrial facilities, peak management is a significant cost item. Shifting flexible loads (deferrable processes such as charging, pumping, cooling) out of peak hours, especially to the cheap night band, lowers the electricity bill while doing the same work.
