What is AMR (Automatic Meter Reading)?

AMR (Automatic Meter Reading), known as OSOS in Turkey, is infrastructure that automatically collects the consumption and index data of electricity meters remotely, without the need for manual reading, and transfers it to a central system. Meters send their data to the center at regular intervals via a modem or communication module.

AMR is especially valuable where there are many measurement points (organized industrial zones, sites, facilities requiring many subscriptions). It removes the error, delay and labor cost of manual reading; by providing consumption data in near real time, it enables invoice verification, loss-and-theft detection and consumption analysis.

AMR data is also used to audit the distribution company's bill and to build a consumption profile. Combined with a central monitoring platform, the consumption of each measurement point can be tracked from a single dashboard, and alarms can be set for anomalies.
